Dairy Queen makes a 'smoothie' move
In a merger of two iconic brands, the Dairy Queen system is rolling out Orange Julius smoothies and Orange Julius original drinks to DQ locations including DQ Grill and Chill Orange Julius at 1701 South Broadway in Alexandria.
"We have essentially created a smoothie shop within a DQ store," said Craig and Alesia Hillman of the Alexandria location. "We are offering an assortment of fruit choices, variety and convenience to customers who want a quick snack or a treat at any time of the day."
Customers have a choice between Orange Julius smoothies and drinks. Smoothies are made with real fruit, low-fat yogurt, and are blended fresh. Flavors include strawberry, strawberry banana, triple berry, mango pineapple and orange. Also available is the original Orange Julius flavor of orange.
The Dairy Queen system acquired the Orange Julius concept in 1987, but the brand has been around for more than 85 years. For more information about the Dairy Queen system, visit DairyQueen.com.
