Crash near Hillsboro, N.D., kills 1, injures 1
HILLSBORO, N.D. - A man died Sunday from injuries suffered in a crash on Interstate 29 about seven miles north of here, the North Dakota Highway Patrol announced in a news release.
Jacob Ochsner, 24, of Fargo, was heading north shortly before 12:30 p.m. when he lost control of his 1991 full-sized Dodge pickup, skidded through the median and was hit by a southbound 2008 Chevy Avalanche driven by 32-year-old Noel Borgen of Fargo, the patrol said.
Ochsner and Borgen were taken to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks to be treated for their injuries. Ochsner died later that evening.
Borgen was in serious condition Monday morning at Altru, a nursing supervisor said.
The patrol said both men were wearing seat belts; Borgen's airbag deployed. There was ice and light snow on the road at the time of the crash, according to the patrol.
