The incident began at about 4 a.m. Tuesday. The owner of a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado reported that while shopping at Elden’s Food Fair, his truck was stolen. The vehicle had been left unattended and running with the doors unlocked, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

Approximately 45 minutes after taking the theft report, police received a report from Holiday Gas Station on 50th Avenue of gas drive-off. The description of the vehicle leaving the gas station matched the description of the stolen vehicle that was reported within the hour.

Officers and deputies located the vehicle on Broadway traveling northbound. Officers initiated a traffic stop, as the driver of the stolen vehicle ignored the efforts of the police and accelerated at high rates of speed, according to police.

The pursuit ended at the intersection of County Road 82 and County Road 45 where the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to crash and roll over. The two occupants where apprehended and are being held at the Douglas County Jail on charges of fleeing a police officer, theft of a motor vehicle and the theft of the gas. The suspects are the driver, Jeffrey Allen Wilson, 27, and passenger, Jennifer Lea Kack, 35. They're both from Alexandria.

No one suffered any injuries.

The case remains under investigation by the Alexandria Police Department. Assisting on the case was the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
