"Summer is in full swing and communities across the state are gearing up for events that will require the full closure of state highways," said Sue Mulvihill, director of the Minnesota Department of Transportation's district operations division. "MnDOT urges motorists to plan their trips accordingly using the 511 travel information service and drive safely when encountering these activities."
Motorists who come across an event are advised to:
--Slow down, use extra caution.
--Follow posted detours.
--Avoid using cell phones while driving.
