Communication art students and instructor shine at ADDY event
Students in the communication art and design program at Alexandria Technical and Community College (ATCC) recently participated in the advertising industry's professional competition, the ADDY Awards. The ATCC students have taken the majority of awards in the student competitions for several years.
This year, ATCC earned 26 out of 39 Silver Awards; 20 out of 30 Gold Awards; and two out of four Judges Awards. The ATCC communication art and design students also earned the Best of Show Award.
This year, in addition to the students earning recognition, Myron Sahlberg, communication art and design instructor, was awarded the ADDY Silver Medal Award. This award recognizes those who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and have been active in furthering the industry's standards, creative excellence, and responsibility in areas of social concern.
Sahlberg teaches drawing, painting, illustration and editorial design at the college.
The ADDY Awards attract more than 50,000 entries every year in local competitions. The mission of the competition is to recognize and reward creative excellence in the art of advertising.
