This display, covered in poppies, was created by members of the Alexandria VFW Auxiliary. It was shown at the district VFW meeting and then at the state level, where it earned 1st place in the category "Inspirational Memorials." While the United States is usually covered with red, white and blue on the Fourth of July, the Alexandria chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) tried something different when they commemorated historical events in displays - they covered it with poppies.
