The next summer activity is an old-fashioned barbecue, dessert and ice cream social on Sunday, June 15 after the Runestone Days Parade in Kensington.

In September, the church will host its Harvest Festival. More details will be announced at a later date.

Solem Lutheran was organized as a church in 1876. It served in the southwestern corner of Douglas County for 132 years.

After its closing in 2008, the Solem Preservation Association was formed to preserve, improve and maintain the Solem building for the Kensington community and the surrounding areas.
