Coin celebrates Alexandria's history
Two coins honoring the 150th year of Alexandria and the state of Minnesota are available through the Alexandria Sesquicentennial Association.
The two coins are sold only as a set and are available at the Douglas County Historical Society at 1219 Nokomis in Alexandria and will be sold during the ALEX-150 events throughout the summer.
The Alexandria coin features an official logo of the Alexandria Sesquicentennial created by Karla Mikkelson. The Minnesota coin features the Great Seal of the State.
Both coins have the Douglas County Courthouse on the opposite side. The set sells for $10 and is a fundraiser for the Alexandria Sesquicentennial sponsored by Bremer Bank, Douglas County Historical Society, Douglas County Library Friends and Foundation, and the Greater Alexandria Area Association of Realtors.
Hours of operation at the Historical Society for Sesquicentennial merchandise are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the week.

June 24 - Time Capsule Day at the Court House lawn, noon to dusk.
June 25 - Beetles old-time baseball game, 6:05 p.m. game time.
June 28 - Day in the Fort, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
July 12 - Chain of Lakes Classic Boat Show at Arrowwood.
July 26 - Art in the Park.
August 7 - open house at the Douglas County Historical Society.
August 14 to 17 - Douglas County Fair.
