Classic cars to be displayed August 9 in Parkers Prairie
The Parkers Prairie Classic Vehicle Show is scheduled for Sunday, August 9 as part of the Parkers Prairie Fall Festival.
Registration will take place from 8 a.m. to noon on the north end of City Park, north of the steamer. There is a $10 entry fee for the event, which is sponsored by the Parkers Prairie Lions Club, COOL-FM 94.3 and a variety of other businesses.
New this year is a "survivor" class, which invites cars that have not been renovated or restored, but still run and are being used.
An awards ceremony is set for 4 p.m., where they will not only hand out trophies, but cash prizes as well for the best engine, mayor's choice and the Lions president's choice. There will also be special recognition given to the Best of Class and the Mayor's Trophy.
Divisions in the car show include 2008 winners circle, sports cars, street rods, convertibles, muscle cars, fast and furious class, special interest, pickups - stock and modified, best paint job, best engine, survivor, motorcycles - stock and custom, vintage motorcycles, vintage snowmobiles, classic boats and any tractors or farm related vehicles.
There will also be a "classic song and dance revue" for two age groups. "One for the younger people and one for the older people who know what classic means!" said Jim Arvidson of the Parkers Prairie Lion's Club. The song and dance revue will take place after the parade.
