The Children's Mental Health and Emotional Development: A Practical Series will continue with "It's Okay to Feel Angry: Working with Childhood Anger, Frustration and Power Struggles."


The class will take place on Tuesday, January 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Alexandria Technical and Community College, Room 205 in Alexandria.

Instructors Julie Trosvig, MSW, LGSW, and Joni Jacobson, MS, OTR/L will focus on supporting and promoting the healthy social and emotional development of young children.

This series will address the cause, course and prevention of challenging behaviors. The focus will be understanding that it is acceptable to feel angry, but not OK to express those feelings in a hurtful way. Understanding and working with childhood frustrations, anger and power struggles will also be addressed.

Specific mental health disorders will be covered. However, the emphasis will be on understanding, preventing and responding effectively to children's needs.

This course is recommended for early childhood teachers, center staff, family child care providers, foster care providers, parents and teachers.

The course fee is $20, and continuing education certificates are available.
