Dan Ness, mayor of the city of Alexandria, proclaimed August 13, 2010 as Charlie Basch Day in Alexandria.

Basch was told of the news at the Alexandria Golf Club last Friday during an event held in his honor.

Basch was a valuable and beloved part of the Alexandria High School faculty as a science teacher and coach. He joined the Alexandria faculty in 1954 and eventually became the head football and baseball coach.
