Challenger emerges in Douglas County commissioner race

A challenger has filed for one of the three Douglas County commissioner positions that are up for election this fall.

Jon Gaugert filed for the District 2 post currently held by Jim Stratton.

The two other incumbent commissioners, Charlie Meyer in District 4 and Dan Olson in District 5, both filed and face no challengers, as of Monday morning.

As reported previously, four candidates are running for Douglas County sheriff: incumbent Troy Wolbersen, along with Rich Homan, Greg Windhurst and Scot Umlauf.

The filing period runs through tomorrow, June 3.
