Central Square announces Concert Series XI
Central Square in Glenwood recently announced the 2013-14 schedule of performing arts events for Concert Series XI.
Beginning on Friday, September 6, there is a concert by the Unexpected Surfer Boys, who tackle the timeless harmonies of the Beach Boys.
On Friday, October 11, world-renown singer/songwriter John Gorka will perform. This event is made possible by an Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy grant.
Another Legacy grant performance will be held on Saturday, November 9 when Central Square presents the Katha Dance Theater, which includes percussive dance, storytelling, mime and theater of Northern India.
For the holiday, don't miss Christmas with the Pope County Music Makers, featuring local talent, on Saturday, December 14.
Jumping ahead to spring, Central Square will present the "premier men's vocal ensemble" in the U.S., Cantus, in concert on Saturday, April 26, made possible by an Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy grant.
The final performance event of the series will be a Scandinavian song and dance event featuring a trio of musicians, including Ross Sutter and two Norwegian dancers, on Saturday, May 17.
Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Central Square Historic Auditorium.
