Maxine Carlson shot a personal best in high school competition with her round of 78. That was good for medalist honors as she led the Cardinals to a 351, 23 shots in front of second place Elk River.

St. Cloud Tech and Elk River were the only two visiting schools able to attend the meet. The Elks shot a score of 374, while the Tigers came in with a 393.

"We were a little disappointed that more teams could not attend," head coach Tim Zupfer said. "However, Elk River and St. Cloud Tech are good golf teams and both provided us with good competition."

The Cardinals had the top three finishers in the meet. Maggie Leland finished right behind Carlson in second place with a 79. Beckah Ripley finished third with an 84, while Caroline Roers rounded out the top four scorers with a 110.

"I was waiting for our top three players to all post a good score on the same day," Zupfer said. "They certainly did so today. Maxine had a breakthrough round, and I hope this gives her the confidence over the next month of the season. Beckah had a tough start her first four holes, but after that, played the remaining 14 holes in about five of six over par.

"Maggie had her best ball striking round of the season but was disappointed with her putting. Caroline had a tough day but managed to play well the last five to six holes. We can always count on her to hang in there and play hard for 18 holes."
