Head coach Rick Larson went with an inexperienced lineup, resting many of the Cardinals’ regulars. These six golfers combined to finish with a team score of 688 for Alexandria.

“Our scoring was a little high, as it was for most teams,” Larson said. “We were able to give six players who have limited, if not any varsity experience, some quality golf competition.”

Seniors Brady Bast, Brandon Bistodeau, Levi Vaagenes, and sophomores Chad Blank and Kagan Foster all saw their first varsity action in the meet.

Bast led the Cardinals by shooting 171 over the two days, followed by Vaagenes at 172, Blank at 175 and Bistodeau at 176. Sam Jenson shot a 181 and Foster rounded out the top six at 186.

Larson said the three seniors, Bast, Bistodeau and Vaagenes played relatively well, with a few high-scoring holes having a negative effect.

“All there had several blow-up holes along the way, but both days they did have several stretches of good golf,” Larson said.
