Cards fall 3-2 to Blake at state hockey tournament

The Alexandria girls' hockey team saw a strong effort against the defending Class A champs come up just short in a 3-2 loss to The Blake School in the first round of the state tournament on Wednesday.

The two teams were tied at one apiece at the first intermission. The Blake School responded with a goal in the second and another in the third. Carly Bullock scored the first two goals for the Bears and Sylvie Wallin added what turned out to be the game winner in the third. Melissa Drown scored both goals for Alexandria with one coming in the first and the other coming in the third period. 

The Bears outshot the Cardinals 36-11. Amy Jost had 33 saves in the losing effort.
