Cards drop first CLC game
The unbeaten streak in the Central Lakes Conference finally ended for the Alexandria boys’ hockey team on Friday night with a 2-1 road loss to Sauk Rapids-Rice.
Before Friday’s loss to the Storm, the Cardinals had not lost a game in the conference all season through 10 contests.
Sauk Rapids broke a 1-1 tie in the third period with a goal by Travis Kothenbeutel, and from there Alexandria was unable to pull off another comeback on the road.
Both teams traded goals in the second with Zach Johnson scoring for Alexandria.
The loss dropped the Cardinals to 13-4-2 this season with a 9-1-1 record in the conference.
