Cardinals struggle to convert chances into goals
The Alexandria boys soccer team struggled offensively in two games against conference opponents this week.
The Cardinals lost 3-0 to St. Cloud Cathedral on Monday and 1-0 to Fergus Falls on Tuesday.
In their match against St. Cloud Cathedral on Monday, the Cardinals were down by two goals at halftime. A penalty kick in the second half put St. Cloud Cathedral up 3-0, and the Cardinals were unable to score despite putting 10 shots on goal.
In their second game in Fergus Falls on Tuesday, the Cardinals were again unable to score despite putting 24 shots on goal.
The Cardinals outshot Fergus Falls 24-11, but they were unable to turn any of their opportunities into offense. Goaltender Zach Lamb had 10 saves in the game.
The Cardinals next game was scheduled for Thursday at home against Willmar.
