Two wins in a doubleheader against St. Cloud Apollo on the road Thursday helped the Alexandria girls’ softball team improve to 5-2 against Central Lakes Conference opponents this season.

A total of 17 hits in game one helped the Cardinals’ offense roll to a 14-4 victory in game one. Anna Lee drove in a team-high six RBIs on two singles and a double in the game.

Taylor Ellingson picked up the win on the rubber, allowing only two earned runs with eight strikeouts in seven innings.

The Cardinals benefited from some solid starting pitching from Kaila Dewanz for a win of 5-2 in the second game of the day.

Dewanz allowed zero earned runs over seven innings to pick up the victory. Jana Roste drove in two RBIs and picked up a double to lead the offense.
