Cardinals lose first match to Marshall

The Alexandria tennis team put up a fight in their season opening match against Marshall, but they were unable to overcome the 2012 Class AA state champions in a three set loss.

The Cardinals pulled within one point in the first set, but they were unable to tie the match as Marshall rolled to a three set victory 25-23, 25-11 and 25-16.

A total of six players recorded kills in the match for the Cardinals. Amanda Christianson led the attack with six kills, and Emily Kuennen recorded five. The Cardinals scored 24 total aces in the match.

Amanda Haack led the Cardinals' defense with seven digs, and she recorded 22 set assists as well.
