Cardinals kick takes fourth in Rocori
The Alexandria dance team headed into the Rocori Invitational without two of its seniors, but the Cardinals were still able to finish in fourth place in the kick division.
Head coach Christine Reilly was happy with the team’s ability to stay focused without two key parts of the team who were out due to illness.
“It was a real downer when we found out that a couple team members could not compete, and it would have been easy for the rest of the team to give up and use that as an excuse for a poor performance,” Reilly said. “Instead they pulled together and went out with more confidence than I’ve seen from them all season.”
The Cardinals finished behind first place Sartell, second place Sauk Rapids and third place Rocori.
In the jazz division the Cardinals finished seventh out of nine teams. Reilly was also happy with what she saw from the Cardinals’ jazz performance.
“Again, we were missing two seniors, but it was a better jazz performance than we have had lately,” Reilly said. “The team has struggled with technique but went out more relaxed on Saturday and hit more skills.”
