Cardinals advance past Moorhead, faces St. Michael-Albertville

Alexandria scored six runs with two outs in the fourth inning against Moorhead to take an 8-2 lead they would hold to advance in the Section 8AAA loser’s bracket on Tuesday afternoon in St. Cloud.

Mitch Thompson drove in two RBIs on a single, and Toby Helgeson, Cody McLaughlin, Parker Bowden and Zach Peterson plated one runner each with hits during the two-out fourth inning that broke the game wide open for the Cardinals.

Blake Stockert went a complete seven innings to pick up the win on the mound, allowing two earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts.

The Cardinals were next scheduled to face off with St. Michael-Albertville after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
