Card boys' track and field: Alexandria has three named All-CLC

Three Cardinal boys earned Central Lakes All-Conference track and field honors Thursday as the Alexandria team finished seventh overall at the CLC outdoor championships at St. John's University.

Senior Will Sieling put in a season-best time of 10:09.99 in the 3,200-meter run, placing second, while senior Jesse Hacker finished second in the shot put with a 49'10" toss.

Lee Klein finished third for his All-CLC honor in the 200-meter dash, running a season-best 23.47.

Earning honorable mention was Mitch Peck, who was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles in 42.71, a new personal record, while Jimmy Lovrien was fifth in the 1,600-meter run in 4:41.20 and Brian Krebs tossed the shot 44'10" for sixth place, also earning honorable mention.

Just missing honorable mention was the 4x800-meter relay team of Kreg Anderson, Jimmy Pfeffer, Colton Sailor and Jesse Groettum. Their time of 9:00.60 was good for fifth place.

The 4x200-meter relay team made up of Phil Pham, Klein, Peck and Nathan Huss also placed placed fifth with a time of 1:34.62.

The 4x400m relay team made up of James Holmquist, Nathan Huss, Joe Gorghuber and Alec Wosepka won their heat and earned sixth place honors, while Klein placed seventh in the 100-meter dash.

"Trent Piepenburg had a great race in the 3200-meter run to place eighth with a personal record time of 10:32.04," said head coach Jerry Amundson. "The 4x100-meter relay team also placed eighth with Nathan Huss, Colby Carlson, Tyler Kelly, and Richard Bellefeuille." The team finished in 48.38.

The Cardinals will compete today, Wednesday, at Sauk Rapids for the prelims of the Section 8AA meet, beginning at 3 p.m.

Saturday, June 2, the finals will be held in Detroit Lakes beginning at 9:30 am.
