Car takes down power pole

Residences and businesses on the east side of Alexandria were temporarily without power after a one-vehicle crash last Friday. According to the Alexandria Police Department, the crash was reported at 7:42 a.m. near the intersection of Sixth Avenue East and Quincy Street. Two power poles were toppled in the crash. Alexandria Light and Power crews were on-scene a short time later to restore power. The crash remains under investigation.
