Candlelight event at Carlos State Park
Minnesota state parks and trails will host 32 candlelight events this winter, including an event at Lake Carlos State Park on Saturday, Feb. 08, 2014. These events provide an opportunity to ski or snowshoe on trails illuminated by the warm glow of candles or luminaries. Lake Carlos State Park visitors can warm up around a fire or enjoy a cup of hot apple cider.
There are 3.5 miles of ski trail and 1.5 miles of snowshoe trail. Both are suitable for beginner-level skiers or snowshoers of all ages. Although a vehicle permit is required to enter Minnesota state parks ($5/one-day permit or $25/year-round permit), there is no additional charge to participate in this candlelight event.
Participants can also ice skate on Hidden Lake by way of luminaries. Call 320-852-7200 for information about the event or to inquire about snowshoe rental and checkout, as limited pairs are available.
Note that this event may be changed or canceled due to weather. In the event there is not enough snow to ski or snowshoe, this event will be changed to a candle-lit hike. For more information, including event details, weather updates and directions to the park, call 320-852-7200 or visit the Lake Carlos State Park page at www.mndnr.gov.
