he Canadian Pacific (CP) Holiday Train will make a stop in Alexandria on Monday, December 16 at 11:45 a.m. at the 8th Avenue East railroad crossing by Hubbard Feed Mill, 8th and Nokomis.

The Holiday Train will consist of brightly decorated railcars, including a modified boxcar that has been turned into a traveling stage for performers. It will also make a corporate contribution to the local food bank.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation, all of which stay within the community. Items can include infant formula, canned meats and spaghetti sauce.

The goal of the CP Holiday Train is to raise food, money and awareness for food banks in communities across Canada and the U.S.

To date, the Holiday Train program has helped raise $4.8 million and 2.3 million pounds of food.
