Broadway update: Rain slows operations

Despite the rain, crews are making progress on the underground water work on Alexandria's Broadway.

Here's the latest update from City Engineer Tim Schoonhoven as of today, Friday:

"The contractor continues to install water and sewer service connections to the buildings between Sixth and Seventh Avenue.  He is also continuing the installation of the underground storm sewer and has set several catch basins.  We expect the installation of underground utilities to continue through next week.  The rain from yesterday and this morning has slowed operations a bit but the contractor continues to make good progress.  The contractor will not be working this Saturdaydue to the Labor Day weekend."
