Broadway update: Phase three to start August 11

Alexandria's Broadway reconstruction project is proceeding at a rapid pace. Here's the latest update from City Engineer Tim Schoonhoven:

"The contractor made very good progress on phase two this week.  The last of the concrete street pavement was placed yesterday.  The remaining work on phase two includes of the placement of the sidewalk, pavers and planter boxes and the installation of the traffic lights.  Also remaining on phase two is the asphalt paving of the side streets and the striping of the traffic lanes and parking spaces." 

"Phase three (Sixth to Eighth Avenue) is now scheduled to start on Monday, August 11."

Al Edenloff is the news and opinion page editor for the Echo Press. He was born in Alexandria and lived most of his childhood in Parkers Prairie. He graduated with honors from Moorhead State University with a degree in mass communications, print journalism. He interned at the Echo Press in the summer of 1983 and was hired a year later as a sports reporter. He also worked as a news reporter/photographer.
