Brandon Summer Fest
The city of Brandon invites the public to celebrate Brandon Summer Fest 2013 with a variety of festivities, food and music Wednesday through Sunday, July 31 to August 4.
Following is a complete schedule of events:
WEDNESDAY, JULY 31
5 p.m. Pork chop supper by Brandon Community Club at Lions Park with live music by Pure Country from 6 to 9 p.m. Meal includes pork chops by Douglas County Pork Producers, or pork patty, potato salad or chips, baked beans, bread and beverage. Beer garden by Brandon Liquor Store.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 1
6:30 to 8 p.m. Vintage Car Club show on main street across from Knotty Pine. Other collectible cars welcome. Douglas County Dairy Princess will serve ice cream.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 2
6 p.m. Brandon Fin and Feather bean bag tournament at Lions Park; 64 teams; registration begins at 5 p.m. $30 per team with $10 going back to club.
Pulled pork sandwiches and chips sold by Brandon Fin and Feather. Beer garden by Brandon Liquor Store.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 3
5k run/walk and kid fun run; proceeds to benefit the Jordan Nohre Cancer Fund.
7:15 to 7:55 a.m. Registration at Gardonville parking lot or register at www.b-e.k12.mn.us.
8 a.m. 5k run/walk; 11 or older $20, 10 or younger $10.
8 a.m. 1k kids fun run/walk; no entry fee; ribbons for all participants.
9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Coffee and bars before parade at Grace Lutheran Church; salad luncheon after parade until 1:30 p.m.
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Craft show and quilt display at City Auditorium; lunch available by Moe 4-H Club.
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Brandon History Center open at City Auditorium.
10:15 a.m. Kiddie parade; line up at 103 3rd Street East.
11 a.m. Annual grand parade; grand marshals are Jim and Mary Rolf and Dick and Elaine Simpson.
Men's softball and ladies' sand volleyball tournaments at the ball parks; concessions at the ball park by the junior class..
1 to 4 p.m. Inflatables for the kids at City Park on Front Street.
1 to 4 p.m. Kids' balloon water wars at City Park on Front Street.
2 p.m. Official kids' pedal pull at the corner of Nelson and Front Street.
2 to 5 p.m. "Come and go" bingo by Brandon Lions Club at Lions Park; $1 per game with 50 percent payback.
5 to 7:30 p.m. Brandon Lions fish fry at Lions Park; fish, baked beans, potato salad, watermelon and beverage; adults $7, 12 or younger $4; bring used eye glasses and hearing aids for Lions collection box.
7:30 p.m. Lions annual raffle drawing at Lions Park.
8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Concession stand by Brandon Community Club during the street dance in Brandon City Shop.
9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Annual Brandon firemen's street dance by City Auditorium; music by 8th Hour.
10 p.m. Brandon Fin and Feather raffle drawing. First prize, Polaris Sportsman 500cc 4-Wheeler; second prize, Polaris Sportsman 90cc Kids 4-Wheeler; third prize, Beartrack 2 place tilt bed trailer. Call (320) 219-1873 for tickets.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 4
8 a.m. to noon. Men's Round Table of Brandon pancake and fruit breakfast at St. Ann's Church.
Attend church of choice for morning worship.
Men's softball and ladies' sand volleyball tournaments continue; concessions by the junior class continue at the ball park.
