Brandon-Evansville volleyball: Chargers sweep Underwood
A three-set win on the road against Underwood Tuesday for the Brandon-Evansville volleyball team has kept them in a first place tie with Battle Lake in the Little Eight Conference.
Both first place teams are 6-1 in conference play this season. Head coach Kelly Olson said the Chargers served aggressively Tuesday and played well on defense.
“They came out of the blocks fast, hit hard, and really played well that first set,” Olson said. “After the start, the game settled down and we sided them out very well, I thought.”
The Chargers also played with concentration, something Olson has been working on with the team all season.
“All of the players were in every point of every set,” he said. “We focused on the point at hand tonight, not the plays that had happened.”
Caroline Jansen led the Chargers with 12 kills on the night, and setter Kinsley Randt had 29 assists.
Brandon-Evansville finished with 83 digs as a team on defense. Megan Kokett led with 19 and Mariah Hansen had 18.
After the match, the Chargers were looking forward to their next conference match on Thursday against Rothsay.
“That will be another tough LEC match, but as for tonight I was happy with our effort and focus, and if we do those little things moving forward we should put ourselves where we want to be,” Olson said.
