Boys basketball: WCA pushes but can't overcome unbeaten Battlers

The West Central Area boys’ basketball team stayed with undefeated Battle Lake for most of the game but faltered down the stretch in a 55-40 loss Saturday.

Battle Lake came into the game with a perfect 21-0 record this season, but WCA only trailed by four points at halftime.

“Battle Lake is a very good team with no weaknesses,” head coach Kraig Hunter said. “We did a lot of things well in this game and competed well with them for much of the game.”

Jay Zimmerman led the Knights with 10 points, and Tyler Ukkelberg led Battle Lake with 23.

The loss dropped WCA to 15-6 overall this season.
