Boats, Blues and BBQ: Maritime Museum annual fundraiser set for Friday, August 28
The Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum is proud to announce its annual "Boats, Blues and BBQ" festival.
The end of the summer celebration and fundraiser will take place Friday, August 28 from 6 to 11 p.m. on the museum campus.
The public is invited for an enjoyable evening with good food, good friends, great blues music and great silent auction items.
The menu for the Boats, Blues and BBQ include barbecued beef sirloins, baked potatoes, vegetable, salad, bread and dessert. There will also be a cash bar available.
Tickets are $20 per person in advance or $25 at the gate. Tickets can be purchased at the Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum, Elden's Food Fair or Pete's County Market.
Entertainment for the evening will be provided by Davina and the Vagabonds.
Davina has been called the "hardest working blues woman in Minnesota."
Chris Riemenschneider of the Star Tribune had this to say about Davina, "Two things remain consistent at all her shows - her throaty but cushiony voice, which has a sort of hard-mattress comfort to it that's part Bonnie Raitt, part Etta James and a little Amy Winehouse and her rollicking band's rollicking New Orleans flavor, driven home by dueling horn players and a bayou-thick standup bass."
Davina has shared the stage with Little Feat, Buddy Guy, Elvin Bishop, The Lamont Cranston Band, The Blue Brothers, Joe Bonamassa, Irma Thomas and James Hunter, among others.
She has played at such venues as House of Blues in Atlantic City, New Jersey and the Bayfront Blues Festival in Duluth.
