Bluebirds open house at Carlos State Park
Lakes Carlos State Park will host a welcoming the bluebirds open house on Saturday, May 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park’s visitor center.
Spring brings the welcome return of a popular songbird, the eastern bluebird, decked out in bright blue feathers, a rusty color throat and white belly. The open house that day will be a time for anyone to stop in at the visitor center and learn more about the eastern bluebird.
There will be people on hand to answer questions and share their knowledge of the bird, including how to attract bluebirds to one’s back yard and how to be successful in increasing the bluebird population. There have already been a few bluebirds checking out the nesting boxes at Carlos State Park as of early April.
Those who enter the park must have a state vehicle pass ($5 per day, $25 annually), but the program itself is free.
