Blue Anchors split doubleheader with La Crosse

The Alexandria Blue Anchors split a doubleheader on Tuesday to move to 4-10 in the second half of the season after a 3-1 win and an 8-7 loss to La Crosse at Knute Nelson Ballpark.
The Blue Anchors pushed across two runs in the sixth inning in the 3-1 win to help secure the win for starter Blake Bass. Roman Collins had an RBI single in the inning after Jordan Lee connected for a solo home run with two outs. Kris Goodman and Aaron Gretz both had two hits, with one of Gretz’s being a solo home run in the third.
Bass went six innings and scattered seven hits. He walked nobody and struck out two on his way to allowing just the one run. Graylon Brown threw a clean seventh inning for the save.
Alexandria was in good position for a sweep against the Loggers with a 7-3 lead after four innings in game two before La Crosse rallied for a 10-inning, 8-7 win.
The Loggers scored six runs in the fourth through sixth innings to tie the game. They won it behind an RBI single from Brandon Wessels in the top of the 10th.
Lee and Goodman both had big games at the plate as both homered. Lee went 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs. Goodman was 2-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs, while Nehwon Norkeh added two hits and an RBI as well.
These two teams will be back at Knute Nelson Ballpark tonight, Wednesday, for a 6:35 first pitch.
