Blue Anchors sign right-handed pitcher for upcoming season
The Alexandria Blue Anchors has announced the signing of a right-handed pitcher from Herkimer County Community College in the state of New York.
Michael DeCarlo is coming to the Blue Anchors from Herkimer County Community College, which is currently the eighth-ranked Division III junior college team. DeCarlo has so far thrown 11 innings with 11 strikeouts and a 0.82 ERA this spring, and he is committed to pitch for the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff next year.
“I am honored to be representing the Blue Anchors this summer in the Northwoods League,” DeCarlo said. “I am ready to help work toward bringing a Northwoods League championship to Alexandria.”
Last summer he pitched in nine games for the Mohawk Valley DiamondDogs in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, posting a 4.05 ERA in 40 innings while striking out 28 batters. DeCarlo is originally from Wynantskill, New York, but traveled all around the world due to his dad’s military involvement and spent time living in Okinawa, Japan.
“As our pitching staff continues to grow, we keep adding quality arms,” Blue Anchors general manager Kendall Hughson said. “Michael will give us a pitcher that will go out and battle every time he takes the mound.”
The Blue Anchors begin the season on Tuesday, May 27 at home versus the Mankato MoonDogs.
