Blue Anchors head into break on two-game win streak

The Blue Anchors rolled into the all-star break on a two game-win streak in a series victory over Duluth on Saturday and Sunday in Alexandria.

The victories against Duluth helped snap a four game losing streak from earlier in the week against La Crosse and Waterloo.

Starting pitcher Zach Muckenhirn picked up the victory on the mound by going five innings and allowing only one earned run on five hits and five strikeouts against the Huskies.

Leuschke also helped lead the Blue Anchors to a 6-5 victory over Duluth on Saturday by going 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Jordan Lee also hit a home run for the Blue Anchors, going 2-for-4 in the game with two RBIs.

Starting pitcher Spencer Koopmans picked up the victory by going five innings and only allowing two earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts.

The Blue Anchors will head into the all-star break with a 6-13 second half record. Alexandria’s next home game is at 6:35 p.m. tomorrow against the Mankato MoonDogs at Knute Nelson Ballpark.
