Blue Anchors drop fifth straight

The Alexandria Blue Anchors (3-13) dropped their fifth straight game on Wednesday night in Thunder Bay in a 9-7 game.
The Blue Anchors led 5-1 after two innings before Thunder Bay came back. The Bordercats scored five runs over the fourth and fifth innings and added three more in the eighth. Alexandria tried to rally in the ninth, scoring two runs before coming up short. The Blue Anchors lost despite pounding out 16 hits.
Kris Goodman led that charge. He was named the Northwoods League Player of the Night after going 3-for-5 with a double and a home run. Goodman upped his average to .310 and added a walk, two runs and two RBIs on the night. Ryan Busch and Jake Bergren also had three hits a piece and Alexandria's Dalton Leuschke went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs. Leuschke is hitting .419 on the season.
Ryan Froom took the loss for the Blue Anchors. Both the runs he allowed in 1 2/3 innings of relief were unearned. Froom walked three and allowed one hit.
