Blue Anchors drop eighth straight game

Rochester 6, Alexandria 3

The Alexandria Blue Anchors (3-16) dropped their eighth straight game on Saturday in a 6-3 loss to Rochester.

The Blue Anchors jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI double from Kris Goodman and a groundout by Roman Collins. The Honkers (10-9) answered right back in the bottom of the first with three runs and another run in the second. Rochester would never relinquish that lead as Alexandria didn't score again until pushing a run across in the ninth.

Jason Zgardowski took the loss after lasting just the first inning. He allowed three runs, two earned, on one hit and four walks, while striking out two. Andrew Thome worked four innings of relief and allowed two runs on two hits and four walks. He struck out four.

The Blue Anchors are back home on Monday night with a 6:35 first pitch against St. Cloud at Knute Nelson Ballpark.
