The Alexandria Blue Anchors dropped a pair of games early this week, falling to Willmar 13-5 on Monday and to Duluth 5-4 on Tuesday, dropping the team to 2-10.

It's not as if the Blue Anchors aren't hitting. They recorded a total of 27 hits in the two games, but stranded 23 runners in the two outings.

The Blue Anchors are hitting the road tonight for a two-game stint in Mankato, then heading to Rochester for another two-game matchup on Sunday and Monday. They will be hosting the Willmar Stingers on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The team was to have hosted Duluth Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Alexandria's lead over the Huskies disappeared in the ninth inning as Duluth scored three runs, including a walk-off double by Michael Suiter to end the game.

The Blue Anchors got the jump on the Huskies, scoring twice in the first inning, then, after Duluth tied the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth, Alexandria added the go-ahead run in the fifth and extended that lead to 4-2 in the top of the seventh.

Tim Cusick was 3-for-4 for the Blue Anchors, driving in one run, while Austin Listi was 2-for-5 with three runs batted in.

Cameron Mingo got the start, throwing six and a third innings, allowing two runs while striking out five.

Taylor Simpson was tagged with the loss.

Alexandria had an early 2-0 lead in this game as well, but Willmar got hot in the bottom of the third with three runs, and continued to pile it on through the rest of the game.

The Stingers racked up two runs in the fourth, four in the fifth, another in the sixth, a pair in the seventh, then capped it all off with a final run in the eight.

Andrew Sohn had a good night for the Blue Anchors, who notched 14 hits in the game. He went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored. Kris Goodman also went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored.

Corey Fitzgerald took the loss as he went the first three and a third innings, giving up five runs.
