Blue Anchors add middle infielder

The Alexandria Blue Anchors have added a middle infielder to the roster for the upcoming 2014 season.

Ryan Busch, currently a junior at Georgetown University, is one of the newest additions to the Blue Anchors roster. Busch, who plays both second base and shortstop, was raised in Falcon Heights and is excited to return to the state to play summer baseball.

“The opportunity to come back to Minnesota and play with the guys and coaches who got me to where I am today is something really special,” Busch said in a release. “Not many baseball players can say they had a chance to reconnect with old friends on the field for one final summer ball experience, I wouldn’t want it any other way.”

Busch played in 48 games for the Hoyas in 2013, batting .197 with three home runs, 15 RBIs and 14 stolen bases.

Blue Anchors co-owner Adam Barta said Busch was one of the top prospects in Minnesota during his senior year in 2011. That season, he was selected All-Metro Player of the Year by the Star Tribune.

“We’re excited to have him, and we see him being an impact player for the Anchors this year,” Barta said in a release.

The Blue Anchors season is scheduled to begin on May 27 in a home game against the Mankato Moondogs.
