SHERIFF February 12

A vehicle slid into a ditch near Snowbird Lane SE and 50th Avenue. When a second vehicle arrived to try and get it out, it slid into the ditch as well. A tow truck pulled both vehicles out.

Deputies issued a citation to a person at an Osakis apartment for possessing marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia.

An accident with minor injuries was reported near County Road 34 at 5:34 p.m. A driver was arrested for having a cancelled license, violating ignition interlock conditions and driving without due care that caused an injury accident.

February 13

A parent reported that someone kept calling her 8-year-old daughter’s cell phone the other night and was breathing heavily into the phone.

February 14

A resident in Osakis heard gunshots and then noticed some kids on a balcony that ran off. A deputy found the people involved and one of them admitted shooting four rounds of .270 rifle ammunition.

A driver was arrested on County Road 22 near Ruby Street for third degree driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver’s blood alcohol level was .28, more than three times the legal limit.

February 15

A mail delivery person was bit by a dog near Lake Burgen. Deputies issued a potentially dangerous dog notice to the dog’s owner.

February 16

Someone reportedly tried to take a large tool box out of a Ford F150 truck parked on North McKay Avenue.

Deputies received a report of a suspicious person walking on State Highway 29 South near County Road 28. The person said he had walked from Glenwood to Walmart because he needed time to clear his head. He was dressed for the weather and said he was fine.

A snowmobile caught fire near Big Sand Drive and Wilken Road.

POLICE February 12

A vehicle ran into a school bus in front of Jefferson High School at 12:47 p.m. No one was injured.

A driver on 34th Avenue was cited for having no proof of insurance, speeding and failing to update an address.

A woman called dispatch, screaming that someone who owned several trailers at Olson’s Mobile Home Park walked in on her while she had no clothes on. It was not the park manager.

Officers arrested a shoplifter at Walmart.

February 13

Light fixtures were stolen from a construction job site on Iowa Street the previous weekend.

Deputies responded to a report of a woman drinking alcohol in her vehicle on Highway 29 South. She was arrested for drunk driving.
