After battling to a 3-1 lead late in the third period, Alexandria had to hold off a surging Granite City to win game three 3-2.

Ian Ecklund scored a pair of goals, the first coming in the opening period at 12:07 on assists by Tom Schmidt and Danny Pelzer, but the Lumberjacks' Eric Miller scored on a power play to even the score.

Neither team found the net in the second period, but in the third, the Blizzard scored on their own power play opportunity as Karson Kuntz made it 2-1, using an assist by Pelzer, and Ecklund scored his second goal, an empty-netter off passes from Richie Brown and Tanner Duffney.

Verbeke led the Lumberjacks' offensive pressure, scoring Granite City's second goal of the game at 19:55 of the third, leaving his team trailing by one.

Dom DeGuisseppi rejected 26 shots on goal for the Blizzard, while Scott Murray recorded 53 saves for the Lumberjacks as Alexandria rained 56 shots on the net.

It looked as if the Blizzard would take the Lumberjacks to overtime on Saturday night, but Granite City's Aidan Verbeke had other ideas, scoring the game-winner just seconds before the horn sounded in game four.

The win clinched the series victory for the Lumberjacks, who will now try to defend their Silver Cup championship.

Both goalies were stellar in the contest, but Scott Murray picked up the win in a shutout, and the Blizzard's DeGuisseppi had to settle for a loss, despite stopping 28 shots on goal.

The Lumberjacks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 14 penalty minutes.
