The Alexandria Blizzard got its season going on the road this past Saturday and fell 4-1 to perennial NA3HL power Granite City.

The Lumberjacks scored four goals through the first two periods as Hunter Schneider, Aaron Storch, Drew Otto and Zac Sikich all lit the lamp. Alexandria’s Christian Canavati scored his first junior hockey goal in the third period to give the Blizzard its only goal of the night.

Granite City controlled the pace of play throughout the game. The Lumberjacks outshot Alexandria 42-21, including 31-14 through the first two frames.

Austin Wilson got the win for Granite City after turning aside 20 shots. Evan Bisek of New Prague took the loss for Alexandria after stopping 38 of the 42 shots he faced.

The Blizzard will be back on the road this weekend with three games in three different buildings. Alexandria plays Twin City tonight, Friday, before going to Breezy Point on Saturday and playing Minnesota in Little Falls on Sunday. Friday and Saturday’s games will start at 7:30 p.m. with Sunday’s game set to start at 3:05 p.m.
