Blizzard drop second straight against North Iowa

The Alexandria Blizzard had a chance to hand North Iowa its first loss of the season this weekend, but the Bulls persevered for a 3-2 win on Saturday to complete the weekend series sweep.

The Blizzard led 2-0 on Saturday as Joe Anderson got a first-period goal followed by a goal from Danny Pelzer on the power play. North Iowa chipped away from there. Dylan Zins and Timothy Santopoalo each scored before the end of the second period to even things up at two apiece.

The only goal of the third period came almost eight and a half minutes in when Logan Murphy lit the lamp for what turned out to be the game winner. Evan Bisek took the loss in net for the Blizzard after stopping 17 of the 20 shots he faced. North Iowa's defense stymied Alexandria all night, holding the Blizzard to just nine shots. Chris Amsden had seven saves to earn the victory.

The Bulls moved to 14-0 with the two wins over the weekend and dropped Alexandria to 9-5 on the season.
