Blizzard down Wisconsin in first game of weekend doubleheader

The Alexandria Blizzard got a 6-4 win at the Runestone Community Center on Friday night against Wisconsin.

The Blizzard (5-2) controlled the pace of play, outshooting the Whalers (5-2-2) 40-29 and 18-8 in the first period. That's when Alexandria took control as the Blizzard got goals from Mick Dhein, Aaron Ryback and Ian Eckland to grab a lead this team never relinquished. Joe Anderson added two goals over the next two periods before Drake Hunter put the finishing touches on a 6-4 win.

The victory came despite Alexndria having 106 penalty minutes on 23 infractions. These two teams will meet up against tonight with a 7:10 drop of the puck at the RCC.
