Berberich caught fire from beyond the three-point line on his way to 24 points to go along with two rebounds and three steals. He was efficient all night, going 9-of-14 overall and 5-of-8 from beyond the arc.

John Boogaard added 12 points and eight rebounds and Hunter Scherr had nine points on a night when six players had at least seven points. They needed all of that as a 1-13 Bears team continued to fight to the end.

“We struggled a bit tonight and made it tough on ourselves, but we pulled out the win,” Osakis head coach Matt Hoelscher said. “Both teams started out slow, missing free throws and short shots. We had foul trouble throughout the game and were fortunate our bench players kept our lead when our starters were sitting. Lane Berberich had a big night for us offensively and other guys made key plays down the stretch.”

Osakis shot at a 47-percent clip against Berth-Hewitt and got to the free-throw line 28 times. The Silverstreaks made 18 of those. They also grabbed 34 rebounds on a night when Osakis improved to 4-10 but also left room for improvement after allowing 43 points to the Bears in the second half.

“We need to work on playing better as a team when different lineups are on the court,” Hoelscher said. “A win is a win, and they don’t come easy for us so we will enjoy it, but we are not satisfied with our overall play. We talked about finishing this month strong. We have five more games coming up and some we are favored in, so we have to take care of business and steal one or two from other teams.”
