Along the way, the Beetles' Ben Moore put his name in the record books, breaking the Northwoods League's single season RBI record as he notched his 67th, 68th and 69th of the year.

He also tied the NWL home run mark at 13, and broke the Beetles' home run record of 12 that was set by World Series champion Allen Craig in 2005.

ROX 11, BEETLES 4

St. Cloud snapped Alexandria's four-game win streak as Rox pitcher Lucas Long held off the Beetles for eight innings, allowing single runs in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth for the win.

St. Cloud had grabbed an early 4-0 lead after one inning, increasing the Rox's advantage to 6-0 after two. They then tacked on a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and two more in the eighth for the rout.

With six runs in the first three innings, the St. Cloud Rox left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

Tanner Vavra went 2-for-4, drove in one and scored two more as he homered in the sixth inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Shawn Riesgraf couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Alexandria Beetles, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked two and struck out one.

BEETLES 12, ROX 9

It was definitely a hitter's game Tuesday as Alexandria and St. Cloud combined for 24 hits in the high-scoring game that saw Ben Moore tie for the Northwoods League home run lead as he knocked out his 13th of the season.

That homer also gave Moore the Beetles' record for home runs in a single season, passing World Series champion Allen Craig, who hit 12 in 2005.

After jumping to a 5-1 lead, the Rox got to pitcher Mitchell Babb, knocking in seven runs on just three hits and an error that was highlighted by Erik Kozel's game-tying grand slam following three walks.

Alexandria bounced back with four runs in the bottom of the fourth and three more in the fifth to regain the lead and never trailed again in the game.

Ben Moore racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Alexandria Beetles. He homered in the first inning and singled in the third and fourth innings.

Brandon Johnson got the win, running his season record to 1-1. Johnson struck out one, walked none and gave up no hits.

With the win, the Beetles equaled their first-half win total with 11 games still remaining. Alexandria remained two games behind first place Willmar and .5 game behind Duluth for second after Tuesday's game.

The Beetles will host the Mankato MoonDogs in a three-game series starting tonight (Friday). They will host the Willmar Stingers on Monday before traveling to Willmar on Tuesday. The Rochester Honkers will begin a three-game series in Alexandria on Wednesday.
