The Douglas County Local Advisory Council (LAC) on Adult Mental Health works to reduce the negative stigma around mental illness and to promote and develop competent treatment services for the mentally ill and their families.

The group aims to educate, inform and advocate the residents of Douglas County about mental illness and provide information about local resources and support groups.

LAC is comprised of both mental health providers and consumers who meet the third Thursday of each month at 2:30 p.m. at the Douglas County Social Services Center in Alexandria.

The group currently has an opening for a voting member to be filled by a consumer or family member.

For more information on the opportunity or the LAC in general, contact Anna Olson, LAC co-chair, at (320) 762-3823.
