The Bluedogs scored 11 runs in the final three innings of a 17-10 win over Kensington on Monday afternoon. That came after a 10-2 win over Osakis on Sunday and an 8-7 loss to Miltona to start the weekend on Saturday.

Brandon-Evansville trailed 10-6 heading into the seventh before mounting its comeback. The Bluedogs scored four in that inning to tie things at 10 apiece. Matt Bruns then stepped to the plate to lead off the eighth and drilled a pitch deep over the left field fence to give his team the lead. That sparked another four-run inning before the Bluedogs added three in the ninth to close it out.

Nate Meissner led the Brandon-Evansville offense with a dominating day at the plate. He finished 5-for-7 with two doubles, four runs scored and seven RBIs. Travis Santjer went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, while Bruns added a single and three runs scored to his home run in the eighth. Kensington aided the Bluedogs' effort with 11 walks and eight hit batters.

Meissner got the win by throwing four solid innings in relief of Matt Bruns. Meissner allowed just two runs on four hits over the final four innings. Bruns started as the Norsemen got to him for eight runs on eight hits in the first five innings.

Bluedogs 10, Osakis 2

Brandon-Evansville used another comeback to run away from Osakis on Sunday.

The Hawks took a 2-0 lead after three innings. Tony Roggenbuck delivered a two-out single that scored Kyle Berberich in the first. Colter Fortenberry then added another two-out single that scored Ben Anderson in the third.

That looked like it might be enough for Osakis starter Matt Laven. He was cruising through the early innings as he faced the minimum through four.

The Bluedogs eventually got their bats going in the fifth. Ryan Hendrickson led off with a walk before scoring on a Lee Nelson double. They added four more in the sixth to take a lead they would not relinquish. Chris Shea got the scoring started with an RBI double before Nelson drove him in with a single. Santjer added a two-RBI single with two outs to give his team some breathing room.

The Bluedogs put the game away over the final three innings. Nelson continued his big day with a two-RBI triple to right-center in the seventh. That was part of a three-run inning for Brandon-Evansville. The Bluedogs added two more in the ninth to put the finishing touches on the win.

Santjer got the win after going the first six innings. Hendrickson preserved the lead by throwing three perfect innings, striking out seven along the way.

Miltona 8, Bluedogs 7

F/10 innings

The Bluedogs' stretch of comebacks started with one that came up just short in extra innings on Saturday.

Miltona led 7-2 through eight innings behind a dominant start from Chris Koep. Koep allowed just four hits and struck out 11.

The Bluedogs eventually got their bats going once Koep left after eight. They greeted reliever Shawn Krueger with five runs to tie things up at seven apiece.

Matt Kruize and Matt Bruns started the rally with a walk and a single. Josh Meissner followed with a two-RBI single to get the ball rolling. Nelson came up later that inning with two outs and the bases loaded when he delivered a double that scored Meissner and Shea. Hendrickson scored on a wild pitch in the next at-bat to complete the comeback for Brandon-Evansville.

The Tigers' Colin Erickson made sure they didn't get any more than that. He struck out the first man he faced in Santjer before working a perfect top of the 10th.

That set the stage for Miltona in the bottom of the 10th. The Tigers loaded the bases in front of Southwest Minnesota State infielder Cody Curry. The Alexandria native delivered on the first pitch he saw, driving a shot over the left fielder's head for the game winner.

Mike Bruns started for the Bluedogs and allowed six runs through the first six innings. Kruize took the loss after working the final three-plus innings and allowing two runs.

Brandon-Evansville improved to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in Resorter's West play with the two wins. The Bluedogs will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, when they welcome the Alexandria Senators to town for an 8 p.m. first pitch in Evansville.
