The Brandon-Evansville Bluedogs had their first close game of the season and found a way to win a 6-4 game over Urbank-Parkers Prairie to move to 5-0 this past Sunday.

Brandon-Evansville built a 4-1 lead only to watch the Bombers battle back to tie things at four in the top of the seventh. The Bluedogs responded with a rally of their own as Chris Shea hit a two-run home run that proved to be the game winner.

Former Alexandria Cardinal Shawn Krueger went 5 2/3 innings and allowed just one run. He scattered five hits, while striking out five before giving way to Adam Johnson. Johnson got the win in 2 1/3 innings of work. The Bombers got to him for three unearned runs, but Johnson struck out four. Ryan Hendrickson threw a clean ninth inning to get the save.

Shea, Nate Meissner and Hendrickson continue to be a threat in the Bluedogs' lineup. Shea had a two-hit game with two runs and the two RBIs. Hendrickson added two doubles, a walk and a run scored, while Meissner had a solo home run in the first and finished 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs.

It was the first game of the season where the Bluedogs didn't score in double digits. They blew past Sauk Centre 12-4 behind a four-RBI game from Monte Hinzmann on May 26. Shea added three hits, including a home run and a double that game, as well.

That came a day before they took care of Kensington 12-2 behind three hits and three runs from Hendrickson. Shea added three RBIs that game and Dan Schaffer and Josh Meissner each drove in two.

Brandon-Evansville will try to push its winning streak to eight with three more games this weekend. The Bluedogs will go to Elrosa tonight, Friday, for an exhibition game at 7:30. They will then play at Kensington at 2 on Sunday afternoon and at Ashby for a 5 p.m. game.
